Dining Chairs Makeover & Seat Pad Conversion

in this video I work on 2x CC41 utility furniture dining chairs from the 1940s for a makeover, repair and restoration. I convert their webbed upholstery to solid chair seat pads. I also re-upholster them and give the wooden frames a clean up and a re-finish.

Snooker Cue Legged Mid Century Style Coffee Table

I mentioned in my last vlog video that I had an unusual find recently, 16 snooker cues, which I found leaning against a wall behind a bin.
People who've been watching my channel for a while will know that I predominantly like to use salvaged materials in my projects, so I gave some thought to what I could use these for and the first idea I had was using them to make some tapered legs for a coffee table.
First I wanted to make a top for t

Repair and Veneer - Mid Century Coffee Table Makeover

In this video I'm going to give a complete makeover to this midcentury style coffee table which I picked up recently at a local house clearance for just £5.
The table has some serious problems at the moment - as you can see there's lots of wobble to the table and not all of the feet reach the floor - there's actually a 20mm gap here - and that is because the top is extremely warped and twisted as you can see from this shot.

Making A Herringbone Beech & Mahogany Side Table

In this video I made a mahogany and beech herringbone design side table with a pedestal base.  The sort of table you'd perch a drink on beside your sofa!
I started by cutting all the mahogany pieces to a consistent length at the mitre saw, and then I ripped them all to a consistent width at the tablesaw.  I figured I could use these to form a herringbone pattern, but the problem was that I didn't really have much material to work with.
I had some 25mm square strips of beech and I thought this would look nice alongside the mahogany

Making A Mid Century Style Step Stool / Foot Stool

In this video I use a salvaged mahogany wardrobe panel to make a step stool (or foot stool) with a mid century feel.
First I cut a clean and straight edge along the length of the panel using my circular saw with a straight edge clamped down to guide the cut.
Then I could reference that straight edge against the fence of my panel cutting jig at the tablesaw so that I could cut make a clean 90 degree cross cut.
I measured and marked up to cut what would be the length for the top panel of the stool.
And then I ripped it to width

Refinishing An Ercol Giraffe Room Divider

In this video I'm going to be restoring the finish on a 1956 Ercol Giraffe room divider for a client.
I've never worked on a piece of furniture this old or this valuable before.
And the first mission was collecting it in my small van, I had to get it in by laying it down on it's side, and because it's talled than my van is long, I needed to the door of my van shut with some rope and needless to say I drove home very carefully.
First I had a look around the piece partly to see what work I'd need to do, and partly pure admiration at what a beautifully wel

Coffee Table With Metal Legs

Recently I salvaged some metal coffee table legs - these were being thrown away as part of an office clearance at my place of work, and originally they had melamine tops which were really badly worn and damaged after years of use, and I knew I could make use of the metal legs, so I asked for the metal legs to be put aside for me.  I think I took about 6 or 7 pairs of these in total.
And in this video I'm going to make a solid wood table top for one of the pairs of legs and I'm also going to grind off the paint from the metal legs which you'll see later in the pr

Repairing & Restoring Dining Chairs

Recently I made a couple of desks as a commission for a client, and when I was delivering those to his home, he mentioned he had some solid beech dining chairs that were in need of repair.  There were 6 in total but initially I just took 4 of them away, and in this video I'm going to be showing how I repaired and re-finished them.
The main problem with these chairs, as you can see is that joints are loose, so the chairs had quite a bit of movement in them.
When I lifted the seat pad out, I found there was another problem - the corner brackets which sho
