Repairing & Restoring Dining Chairs

Recently I made a couple of desks as a commission for a client, and when I was delivering those to his home, he mentioned he had some solid beech dining chairs that were in need of repair. There were 6 in total but initially I just took 4 of them away, and in this video I'm going to be showing how I repaired and re-finished them.

The main problem with these chairs, as you can see is that joints are loose, so the chairs had quite a bit of movement in them.

Making Two Signs - hand routing

In this video I'll be working on two sign projects.

The first is a commission for one of my Patrons on Patreon. He asked for a house sign named "The Redlands", and for that I'll be using a piece of what I first thought was a wood called utile, but after posting a picture of the sign on Instagram, a couple of people commented about it potentially being walnut. I'm not sure, but whatever it is, it's a really nice piece of wood - you can see here in the corner where I used my handplane to get a better look at the grain. How To Make A Beeswax & Oil Furniture Polish For Wood Finishing

In this video I’ll be demonstrating how I my own oil wax wood finishing product.

But first, I thought I'd explain why, as there were a few reasons

Firstly I’ve recently run out of Briwax which is a product that I use quite often as a finish, at least for items I make that don’t need a lot of protection from moisture.

Secondly, Briwax is great for adding a really smooth finish and a nice subtle sheen to wood, but it doesn’t really pop the grain, so what I usually do is apply boiled linseed oil to pop the grain

Welcome to part 3 of the desk builds. In the last video I made the drawer and drawer housing for the desk.

And in this one I'll be working on the desk top, the castors, adding a keyboard shelf and getting some glass for the desktop to protect the wood.

First I used my trim router to add a roundover to the top edges of the worktop

I then brought the worktop in to the workshop so that I could sand everything smooth and remove any burn marks left by the router.
