What is Rag ‘n’ Bone Brown?
My name is Keith Brown, I'm from Norwich in the UK and I'm 34. Woodwork and upcycling has been a hobby of mine for many years. I'm self taught (I learned a lot from watching my favourite woodworkers on YouTube).
I like to make things out of stuff that people dispose of, so most of my projects are made from materials found by bins, in skips, at reclamation yards or donated to me. It’s very rare that I buy wood.
I started to share photos and information about my projects on my blog in 2012 (see Early Projects), and started making videos for YouTube in 2015 where I have a growing list of views and subscribers.
Is this your full time job?
No - I work full time, doing woodwork/upcycling in my spare time - weekends and evenings.
What does “Rag ‘n’ Bone” mean?
According to Wikipedia: “A rag-and-bone man collects unwanted household items and sells them to merchants. Traditionally this was a task performed on foot, with the scavenged materials (which included rags, bones and various metals) kept in a small bag slung over the shoulder.”
